I am running my plex server on a dell r630 running server 2012, my tv shows are stored on a Drobo that connects to the server via iscsi,
I am also trans-coding on a 40gb ramdisc. I have been running this configuration for about 2 years now and this issue started creeping up prior to the beta, however it would only be the video stopped for a second, (spinning wheel) then played. This would happen on any show right toward the end of an episode. Now it does 4-5 stop/starts then finishes the episode. If anymore specifics are requested, I will be more than happy to gather the information. I also noticed just since the beta that there is a sort of precursor to the video stops/starts. The audio becomes a little louder and more bass like. It is hard to explain but the sound changes then the video stops and starts. If anyone has anything remotely the same let me know, I imagine most do not have the same setup but I needed to report it as my wife if getting irritated at missing the last 1-2 mins of every show lol.
Have you tried with a clean install of a Plex server in some other machine, then add exactly the same video in it, and try to play it?
Sounds weird since we use Apple’s player (a black box to us ) to which we only pass the video URL, so I hope it’s some kind of server issue
I’ve been seeing very similar symptoms, but on tvOS, ever since upgrading to Apple TV 4k. Not on any betas (though I’ve tried the beta server for Ubuntu with no luck).
Do you have enabled “Automatically Adjust Quality” setting in Settings -> Quality?
We suspect it could be related to that, so does enabling/disabling it make any difference?
I will test that out sergoius87 thanks, it appears to only do this on my apple tv4
