Video stream on HD Optimized videos converts to a solid green screen of video

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8227
Player Version#: 1.90.1.118-a4bc1429 (mac) but seems to be a server-side issue
The video stream of optimized versions of HD videos does not work for me. Playback on Mac client, AppleTV, via the Plex Web interface, and via VLC all show “no video”, but instead just a solid green screen for the duration of the playback.
Optimized 480i videos that were ripped from DVDs in an MKV format seem to optimize just fine…but at least some HD videos, do not seem to be converted by the Optimizer properly.

For example, here is one video I am trying to optimize in Plex and the result is just that “green screen” when the conversion is completed. The audio plays just fine.

  • Original Video:

    • Stream 0:
      • Codec Name: vp9
        Codec Type: Video
        Avg Frame Rate: 25/1
        Width: 1920
        Height: 1080
        Coded Width: 1920
        Coded Height: 1080
    • Stream 1:
      • Codec Name: opus
        Codec Type: audio
        sample_rate: 48000
        channels: 2
        channel_layout: stereo
    • Format:
      • nb_streams: 2
        Format Name: matroska,webm
        Format Long Name: Matroska/WebM
        Duration: 7675.968000
Size: 3499853070 (~3.3 GB file size)
        bit_rate: 3647595
        ENCODER: Lavf60.3.100
  • Plex Optimized Video (Selected ‘Original Quality’, but ‘Optimized for TV’ acts the same):

    • Stream 0:
      • Codec Name: h264
        Codec Long Name: H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10
        Codec Type: Video
        Avg Frame Rate: 25/1
        Width: 1920
        Height: 1080
        Coded Width: 1920
        Coded Height: 1088
    • Stream 1:
      • Codec Name: aac
        Codec Type: audio
        sample_rate: 48000
        channels: 2
        channel_layout: stereo
    • Format:
      • nb_streams: 2
        Format Name: mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2
Format Long Name: QuickTime / MOV
        Duration: 7675.944000
        Size: 368044944 (~351 MB)
        bit_rate": 383582
        ENCODER: Lavf59.20.101

The optimized file size is the first suspicion that something happened to the Video stream…since the “original quality” file seems to be far too small to contain about 2 hrs of 1920x1080 video.

It looks like the video and audio get transcribed using codecs that seem logical, there just doesn’t seem to be any real converted video in the file…just that green screen.

Any ideas on what I could look at? I do not see anything that appears to be errors in the ‘Plex Transcoder Statistics.log’.

Thanks!
