I’m new to Plex development, so I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction – but I was hoping to develop a simple plugin that would allow “virtual” library entries to be added from an external source (say a JSON API or something similar). This would allow me to hook some DRM-disabled third-party services directly into Plex, so that I don’t have to goto different apps to see my full media library and/or watch my media. Of course, I suppose this would all be dependent on Plex’s ability to turn off transcoding for particular sources, and instead be able to stream sources directly from HTTP (.mkv, .mp4, and .m3u formats specifically). How crazy is this idea? Would any of this be remotely possible, or would changes to Plex be required to accomplish this?
Note that plugins are depreciated!

Any way to do this without a plugin?
Sadly not
