Hi Guys , great work on the plex connect being using it now for solid week, nice work.
I have a small issue with Tv Shows and not noticed anyone else have the issue, it may just been the settings in plex media server ( and if someone can mention what i need to have selected that would be great)
Whats happening is a small volume drop out on tv shows, As you will all know when you watch a tv show that has been downloaded the ads are edited out, and we get a very small fade out and fade in on most tv shows for this. My Issue seems to be this small fade back in, when we come back to the show we lose sound for 4-5 sec then it kicks in to normal. I know its a very small drop out but its frustrating as we sometimes lose what people have started to say.
i don't get the issue on my standard plex which is my computer connected to the tv via hdmi. And i have not noticed it on the ipad either just seems to be this.
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.
Do you have an AV Receiver or are you directly connecting to a TV and using its internal speakers?
The reason i ask is it often takes AV receivers a few seconds to output any sound if the signal stops then starts again.
Can't say i've ever noticed it in any of my TV shows because the signal is constantly being fed to the AVR (even if there is no audio) even during the 'break'.
I do however notice the issue if a pause a video (movie or TV Show) when i resume i have to wait a few seconds to get any sound.
Edit: Just realised this was in the PlexConnect forum (facepalm) and while my above comments may stil be relevant i don't actually use PlexConnect so i apologise that i (probably) can't help any further.
I don't use a av receiver my computer is connected via hdmi to the tv then I have a LG HT blueray system which plays the sound off all channels from the tv via optical out
I don't have the issue at all on the plex computer system only on the plex connect I also don't see the issue on my iPads
At the moment PlexConnect either directly plays a file, using Apple’s native media player, or the stream provided by the PMS in the case of direct streamed or transcoded files.
Currently it uses the generic iOS profile so I am surprised that you do not experience the same on the iPad.
Is the ATV jailbroken and if so what else is installed on it?
Please provide the info in the sticky for reporting problems (make sue you provide a few details about some media files) so we have more detail on your setup.
Thanks for the advice I sorted the issue as it also happens on my roku 3, it seems the Apple TV and roku didn’t like the optical out setup I used on my tv to home theater system I would get a volume drop when a new video started amd on TV shows I would also get a drop in auto in edited ad breaks. My current set up is I have a home theater setup doing all my audio through optical out. I have all my hdmi devices going to the tv then use optical out on the tv to the stereo. Changing to a rca set up fixed the issue.
Thanks for the help guys keep up the great work on all plex fronts as I’m a huge user over all devices and its great.
