VOSUB playback broken since 1.0

I know VOSUBs are no good. But I have some ripped DVDs including embedded VOSUB.
These use to play OK, but now they dont. I suspect the change came with ver 1.0 or perhaps triggered by the changes in Agents (possibly done by me)
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Or do you have a tip for troubleshooting further I would appriciate it.

What client are you using?

IOS - both AppleTV and IPad, Android (FireTV) and web client. All same result

None of these clients support VOBSUB so they must be transcoded. Have yo enabled transcoding subtitles? If you can provide the server log, it should explain if the subs are being transcoded.

I was expecting transcoding.
I think I have enabled transcoding subtitles as I have subtiles on all my media and they are OK.
I will provide the logs Thursday when I am back from my business trip.
In advance - THANK you so much for your kind help.

I just tried to play it again last night at the hotel and I got the message:
“transcode reason vosub not supported in container mkv”
The movie was transcoding but no subtitles came up.
I found this thread about vosub and mkv:

As promised I will provide you with a log tomorrow night.
Thx!

That is a different issue. The Shield supports direct play of VOBSUB. They were transcoding properly.

PMS log attached.
First i ran from web player and later from Fire TV.
However I got this message from Fire TV:
Transcode reason: direct play of image based subtitles currently disabled in preferences
Which I dont really understand.
Both web player and Fire TV has subtitles setting “Only image formats”
I have also attached a screenshot below with mediainfo from the actual media I was trying to play.!
Once again - thank you SO MUCH for helping with this.

Does it work if you use the automatic option?

Sorry forgot to mention. I does NOT work with neither “Automatic” nor “Always”

According to your logs, the vobsubs are not being transcoded at all, so definitely a bug. I was able to reproduce and have provided my findings to the devs. I’ll update when I hear more.

Glad to hear it was not just me being dumb

Hi MovieFan,
I see that this is still not fixed.
Can I anywhere see when this will be fixed or perhaps you have an idea?
Let me know if I need to do anything.
Cheers,
