Want to build a pc dedicated to server, no IT knowledge

And if you check Settings > Remote access, your server status is “fully accessible”?

SRT files are small external text files with subtitles. In the last week or so, all of a sudden having an external subtitle enabled causes issues, thread here. Disabling the subtitle resolves it. No idea what is going on.

AMD CPU will work to stream. The compatibility issue with it arises only if you want to enable additional “hardware acceleration”, to employ help from your graphics. So if you have multiple streams transcoding in real-time, and CPU is struggling, with Intel you can enable “hardware acceleration” and onboard graphics of the chip will start helping with the transcoding. This will not work for AMD. You will need an dedicated Nvidia card to get this. So pretty much to have this option you need either 1) Intel CPU or 2) Nvidia GPU.
It’s not necessary for basic streaming though, as CPU can transcode concurrently, without acceleration help. That’s why in a post above I was surpirsed you have an i7 and getting errors it’s not enough to stream a 720p file… Your existing hardware should be more than sufficient.

Ok I have no subtitles.

Ok so the AMD Vega 11 would kick ass with the remote streams and local? coz that’s only $80 More than the I3 and $30 cheaper than an I5 lol and no need for a gpu which saves $$$

Really the only reason I’m building this is for when my old of dies or starts messing up more so, which I feel will be soon :frowning:

Man I apologies again for the buggy clarifying questions

Myself, I’d be tempted by Ryzen 3600X + Nvidia GPU, you initially mentioned, to get the latest AMD architecture - but as you rightly said, that’s more $$$. And overkill for a simple machine to run Plex and other minor stuff, as this build would be a solid workstation.

So, for a budget build: no GPU + Ryzen 3400G or Intel i5.

My friend said that the Ryzen is far superior and cheaper than Intel and if I ever need we can add a gpu:-)

You have been amazing thank you
