Ok so I got the Plex pass and am wanting to record live TV. Needing a little guidance on what will be required. I know a antenna, Plex Pass and HDhomerun are needed. With that being said I am currently running Plex on a synology DS418Play. Do I need one with a DVR since I have available storage on my NAS or which model would be best for my solution? https://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/
Plex has everything included to run the DVR once you have the tuner.
SiliconDust tuners are one of several supported but do seem to work the best, imho.
Your DS418Play has hardware transcoding capability. This will greatly assist in the recording process of writing H.264 output files for your DVR recordings should you opt to convert after recording.
Since you’re OTA (with antenna), you only need select one which will work for your environment (number of simultaneous recordings).
It might be a good idea to read through the forums a bit in LIVETV-DVR tag and see what others are using.
Thank you Chuck. I will definitely look to see what others are using. In your opinion what would be a better solution than a SiliconDust Tuner?
In a word? Nothing.
I live in the sticks of Pennsylvania. It’s been solid for me.
Lol I read that wrong. I thought you said they don’t work the best.
Thank you!
