Was the Plex account database hacked in Feb?

Hello all,

I use a very specific email address for my Plex account, that I do not use anywhere else. Since Feb. 10th, I’ve been receiving what appears to be fraudulent emails sent to my email address. However, my account seems to be working properly. Since I do not use this email address anywhere else, or any other website or app (as far as I can remember), I’m really wondering how the hacker has managed to find it.
Any clue? Was the Plex customer database hacked recently?

No. There was a hack of the forum server, a few years back. (which was being communicated to all affected users and passwords were being reset at the time).

The data which were siphoned off during this attack are still out there, and occasionally some spammer is using them.

Thanks for the replies. Indeed, it looks like it’s due to an older attack. I’ve found 4 entries with Have I Been Pwned. Scary.
