Tried watching a movie together with someone last night and had to just give up because it wouldn’t play. The server PC has just been updated to Win10 and has a AMD FX-8350 with 16gb RAM. Based on the vague description of passmark scores (It’s just under 6k) it should be able to do a couple of simultaneous transcodes at 1080p. Both parties are using the web app.
Looking at our network, my upload is ~15Mb/s and their download was ~40.
The video file we were trying to watch was only 720p at 1.1Mb/s, .mkv H264 format with stereo AAC.
I don’t really see any “bottleneck” in the system where it shouldn’t be able to play together, and I could be wrong but I think the web app allows for direct playing .mkv so encoding shouldn’t be an issue. Especially when I can do simultaneous live streaming from my system to hers. Is there anything I can do about this?
