We do a lot of long drives and I just traded in my Infiniti with TV screens for the kids, for a Rivian (which I LOVE). As everyone seems to do now, I bought iPad holders for the back seats… I like to make the kids watch movies together instead of them zombying out on mindless video games.
Bottom line is while the car (or my phone) have hotspots, having BOTH iPads stream the same video from my home server is not very productive. Cell coverage goes out, blowing up my data plan, etc.
I tried downloading the movie to each iPad within Plex, but then it won’t allow for Watch Together from the locally stored versions and still requires them each to pull from the server via hotspot.
With the two iPads on the same WiFi (and both on the internet), why can’t they use this connection to sync the timing of the movies while playing them from the locally saved files?
This would be a HUGE help and could be a great marketing idea for solving what so many families are looking to accomplish.
Taking it a step further, putting the two iPads in a “slaved” mode so my phone could control them both would be amazing. Then I could have them play whatever I wanted and they wouldn’t be messing with them.
Thank you!!
