Unreal. They force in all these stupid social features that no one asked for, ever, and get rid of this?

Ill throw my hat in the ring too. This is just another disappointing decision among many. Its like you are actively driving people away. First you got rid of plugins, which was fine but there was not a feature replacement, that one stung. photo upload, fine accepted that one. now this. do you folks even listen to your users? Like others will be looking at replacements. Sad thing is i didnt need to be looking.
Edited: Been reviewing the account ages on this thread. there are a LOT of old timers, im 2016 and there are 2013 and older in here voicing their concern. I dont want to speak for them but Plex has lost their way since i bought a lifetime subscription. I would not do so today…
The loss of Watch Together is being blamed by it not being part of the new Plex Experience Preview – which is a client interface change. Also, see highlighted info here.

Voicing my opinion here. Watch Together is crucial to me and my SO, removing it would be absolutely dumb.

If I pay for the plex pass it is for you to offer us new features, not to remove the ones that work.
I don’t care about your movies and series on demand. You are very misguided about what your business model is and what has made you the number 1 hosting option, but with decisions like this it is clear that I should have gone with the free software option.
Take it for a spin and think about your decisions.
Watch Together is the only feature of Plex that I actually care about, as my fiancé lives abroad. If the feature goes away, I will be forced to switch to another platform, as watching movies together is the main way we hang out digitally.
Please reconsider removing Watch Together, as I would hate for my lifetime pass to be wasted.
So much this. Watch together is the only feature I use plex for. I really started using plex after other streaming services removed their version of “watch together”. Without this feature, there is really no reason to use plex at all. Any other platform would be just as good.
Im sorry for swearing but WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FK PLEX??? This feature is used daily and yes its had some issues ovefr the past few months but to axe it? Seriously? Please reconsider this decision as its taking away what makes plex special. Dont be like other companies and take customers money only to abandoned them with features that are used.
Requested my refund today. Bought Plex pass less than a week ago. I emailed the CEO and billing team, expressing my disappointment and requesting a refund. What a horrible way to start a commitment to a lifetime pass that I was so excited to use.
Let us know how they respond. In my ticket response, they claimed:
In cases where a Plex Pass subscription was purchased very recently (e.g. within the last couple of days), we can often make a special exception to cancel and refund a purchase.
If they don’t, and it truly was less than a week ago, I’d dispute the charge with my bank. Regardless, I feel if they hear from more of us, they may at least reconsider.
Emailed Keith and asked for a refund through support. This is a horrendous decision. I can somewhat understand that redesigning the App and Experience will need priotization on core features which, maybe, they don’t see WatchTogether being. BUT it should be blatantly apparent that this is a hugely popular feature in their analytics.
To then not even hint at how this will be replaced by a new feature in the redesign and just throw out “well maybe it will come back, maybe it won’t” is immensely rude and an incredibly bad business decision.
I will update here with their response. I didn’t even think about it, but luckily paid with a credit card and will be able to dispute it if necessary.
This is one of the worst things. Me and all of my friends love this feature and where hoping for season or whole series watch together support.
Nothing much to add other than it’s a joke to remove a feature that works fine and frame it as an improvement. “the way we watch together is changing”…because we’re completely removing it.
I host a weekly movie night and it’s one of the main reasons I paid for plexpass.
I’m not waiting for this feature to be implemented back in the future, I’ll be migrating to jelllyfin
I subscribed to the monthly Plexpass to test hw transcoding and it was working really good. I mainly use plex for its watch together feature and was going to buy the plex pass lifetime… without the watch together feature there is tbh not a single feature except hw transcoding to buy the plex pass. I guess i will setup a parallel jellyfin container and see how this works. The moment watch together is removed, plex will go to the abyss…
You guys have user metrics and can clearly tell by the tone of the email that many people are using this feature. What’s next? Removing our movie support? We already don’t have confirmation that this “amazing” new UI can play music on our TVs or larger screens. This company makes so many bizzare decisions. I regret buying into this ecosystem that does nothing but take away.
They keep all the dumb features!
If they don’t have the replacement ready then they shouldn’t remove the feature. I use watch together daily and it would actually make me switching to something else.
