Watch together: remote viewers cannot watch full movie

Server Version#: 4.54.5
Player Version#: Windows 10, Chrome,

I’ve been using the Watch Together feature with family overseas for some time now. In general, it is a very robust feature for almost the entire movie. Unfortunately, I am posting this as the feature does not allow for remote viewers to watch the entire film on Plex.

Last night, we tried to watch a 02:43:00 movie. I was watching from Plex on my NVidia Shield; my remote family members were watching from their remote Windows computers running Chrome with Plex’s web interface. On my user interface - Plex via NVidia Shield - the movie time was shown as 02:43:00. On the remote computers (Windows, Chrome), the time was 2 hours.

We tried watching the movie, and at the two hour mark, it would not continue for the remote family members.

I switched to Chrome on my Windows computer, connecting to the same Watch Together stream and connecting to the same Plex server (Windows, on a dedicated server) on the same LAN. The movie time shown was 02:43:00. I played the movie, and it would not progress for the remote family members (who reported the movie was 2 hours long).

We eventually streamed the rest via Discord, which wasn’t optimal.

This has happened with shorter films, too - it seems like Plex Watch Together cannot watch a full movie together.

Please provide suggestions; I’m happy to post logs or to try things.

That’s certainly odd.
Do you experience this as well with other clients / Plex apps (e.g. Plex for Windows, Plex for Android TV)?

We now tested with Plex for Windows and the problem does not occur with the Windows client. Thank you!
