When I try to Watch Together with friends, then Plex messes up a lot.
Sometimes, instead of being able to join the Watch Together session, my friend reports that Plex displays a permission error. Even though I added them to all my Plex libraries.
I, the host, cannot fast forward. Or else my view of the video gets stuck at a loading spinner forever. My friend sees the video continuing to play. As a workaround, I have to contact my friend and ask them to fast forward for me. I can fast forward only very slowly, and only very few steps forward, before this nasty glitch triggers.
After half an hour, my friend’s Plex app randomly disconnected from the Watch Together stream.
It’s really hard to enjoy any videos together, given the constant interruptions from bugs. We both have to quit Plex, launch Plex again, reinitiate Watch Together, and a non-host participant has to fast forward. Before we can appreciate any emotional nuance of the video content, Plex screws up and we’re repeating the same stale troubleshooting steps again and again.
Please stabilize Watch Together, so that it works the first time, without interruption. I don’t mind if the quality reduces. I care much more about a stable viewing experience than anything else.
