I’ve been a lifetime Plex Pass user since 2015, and my family has relied on the Watch Together feature for years. It’s been one of the most enjoyable parts of using Plex in our home.
With the latest Android TV update, I was very disappointed to see that Watch Together has been removed entirely. This was a core feature for us, and losing it without explanation has been frustrating.
I’d like to understand why this feature was removed and whether Plex plans to bring it back — either in its original form or as a similar shared‑viewing option. Any insight into the reasoning or timeline would be greatly appreciated.
Simply “we didn’t make it part of the New Experience app, so when you get updated to the new app you will lose the feature”. Classic corporate non-commital language after that (“we may bring it back in the future but do not have a time frame for that to happen”).
The main downside for that is it requires all participants to change to Plezy for the client. So you have the normal learning curve for friends/family that are used to the old app. But going back to the old app can also be a hassle for people who are not familiar with the process.
I do think that the Plezy UI is much more similar to the old Plex app. Might be an easier transition for some than reverting, but yes I do agree it has its downsides.
