"Watched" Filter

It would be great to have a “watched” filter as a default option. I use the “unwatched” and “all” filters frequently.

I did a search on previous feature requests and see this appears to have been implemented but only through custom filtering, which does technically work but is tedious for repeated use, and I know providing that solution would break the brains of some of the users in my my household - the second I say “operator” they’ll be lost forever.

Use Case: There are frequently times where a user wants to have a some media on at a time where their focus will be split, such as cooking, cleaning, or working on some project, so the user’s interest would be to “watch” something they’ve already seen as their split focus will cause them to miss much of what is being “watched”.

I argue this is something that should be as easy as filtering on “unwatched”. I know users vary so I can only speak for myself, but I have never found an occasion to filter by actor, director, studio, or several of the options that currently exist by default on the filter list. I find it curious some of those exist by default but “watched” seems to be considered less useful and unworthy of inclusion by default.

I hope the team will please consider implementing “watched” as a standard filter for the drop down.

Many thanks for your consideration!

Create a smart collection with this advanced filter.
Then direct your users to this collection.

Otto, thank you greatly for the timely response. Upon discovering that work around I did do just that which pretty much solves the issue for me and others who have figured that out.

For what it’s worth I don’t believe that’s the cleanest implementation for this particular “issue”, and I doubt that solution will be obvious to the majority of the user base. I know we can’t provide a perfect solution for all users all the time, but I personally believe this filter would be popular enough to warrant implementation by default on the list vs something a user would need to build. My objective was more geared to towards suggesting what I believe would be helpful to the broader user base. The development team would certainly know that better than me, and I’m sure this request has been considered and discussed in the past, but I did feel compelled to share my perspective.

Thank you again for the consideration of this request.
