From the searches that i’ve carried out on the forum, it looks like it’s not possible to change the settings/criteria that determines whether a movie or tv episode (or whatever) is truly watched.
Is Plex capable then of marking something as watched (based on this built-in criteria), but instead of then resetting the timer back to zero, it actually remembers where you pressed stop…regardless of whether it has marked the movie, episode as watched?
The amount of times that I am watching something, press stop (for whatever reason), then perhaps move to another device/room etc and try and continue…Plex has done 2 things: Marked it as watched, and reset the timer to zero…so I then have to restart whatever i was watching and fast forward back to where i was.
any insight would be greatly appreciated.
thnx
I’ve never experienced this before. Plex has always kept my place where I left off. I mean, Plex should mark it as watched in some sense but should also have it OnDeck
and should also have it listed under ContinueWatching
… And Rediscover
if it been a real long time since the last time you watched it.
If you watch the video for less than 1 minute from the start, Plex considers the video as unwatched and doesn’t store the playback progress.
If you pressed stop when you had only less than 10% of the video playtime left, Plex may have considered the video as ‘watched’ as a whole. This is done to account for end credits which most users don’t care for.
thanks for the feedback.
So, it sounds like it’s not possible. The 2 situations mentioned above are what I’m talking about that, but especially the less than 10%…that’s the one that ideally I would like to be able to change…
or at the very least, have Plex still remember where I have stopped it, even though it’s within the 10% window.
thnx
I’m one of those ‘annoying’ users that look at credits and am annoyed by Plex’s ‘last 10%’ ruling - proving, once again, Plex doesn’t really know what’s best for me, even thought they think they do…
It’s been this way for so long it’s kinda obvious by now it’s never going to change, so I have to change the way I use Plex. If I’m anywhere near the end and have to stop - I hit pause. If I’m going to be away for a while, I back up well in front of Plex’s ‘best for me’ decision making process - or be prepared to FF to the end.
It’s just another one of those areas where the user has no choice other than to invent a work-around.
