Watching friend's media- any way to pre-cache?

I put on a movie for my daughter yesterday that was in a friend’s Plex server. Even though I’m on a 100MB connection it stopped and buffered every 30 seconds or so (don’t know what he has for a connection or upstream bandwidth). Anyway, he’s got some movies my wife and I would like to watch, and I was wondering if there was a way to tell Plex I’d like to watch it tonight and have it pre-cache the entire movie on my server?

Nope, that’s not an option. The best that Plex has to offer in that way would be plex sync. Or ask to log into his server via the admin account and download the movie file and add it to your server.
