Watching movies causes "Error code: STATUS_BREAKPOINT"

As the title states, whenever I attempt to watch feature length films, it seems to crash in Chrome. I can use the Plex Windows Player without too much issue, but I’ve grown used to watching things in Chrome.

This is very recent and is causing no small amount of frustration for me. Anyone know why just feature length titles (TV shows seem to be just fine?) would crash a browser with an “Error code: STATUS_BREAKPOINT” error?

I am having the same problem, but when using Brave (based on chromium). Just started in the past day. I have tried running plex in a private browser window and rebooting, with no improvement.

It feels like something in a Chrome update cruds it out.

As a workaround I’ve been using the Plex Windows player. Might want to give that a look until a possible fix has been made.

Broken on Chrome and Edge, but Firefox seems to work. Its not all media either. Some play just fine. I found this in the Server Logs. Seems to be on the web browser side.

Hi…I have the same problem in Chrome and Opera in W8.1 and Plex Server Version 1.25.6.5545.

Removing Plex Server and Downgrading to Versión 1.21.3.4046 the problem was solved.

Sorry, PMS version is 1.25.4.5468 and is working now without problems.

Same bug happening to me as well. Server version 1.25.5.5492.
Seems to be happening to every type of media (movies, TV shows, music).

The bug is very repeatable. I can start playing any song in the web client and it will crash within 2-3 minutes. For now it seems to be limited to Chromium-based browsers. The Android Plex app on my TV/phone works fine and also the Plexamp app is having no issues. The Windows app is fine too.

This is nearly my experience, as well. I can watch TV shows, but films just crud out on me.

The android app, and Windows app are both 100% fine.

Hopefully a dev will take a look at this and see what’s what.

Add me to the list as well. Seeing the problem in Edge. Not all media, but most. Started a few days ago. Firefox works fine and so does Plex desktop app and Roku.

There was a suggestion to clear your browser cache, which I have now tried. It did not solve the problem.

check this link. https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/slwbdm/has_anyone_seen_this_error/
effectively it tells you to try from the addres bar https://your_server_ip_address:32400
Ive tried it - it works - but this has obviously been caused by the recent server update.

Yeah. I’ve tried this multiple times after googling the STATUS_BREAKPOINT error. Worked once for a little while, then just kept happening.

Like @FrankieFlix is saying in their comment, it’s definitely caused by a recent server update.

There was another one that went out today, but it doesn’t look like it addressed the issue.

We are pretty sure it is related to this but we are looking into it.
