Update notifications have been showing up regular now through the web interface with a bright orange stripe noting a new version is available with a direct link to download the update file.

Do both the PR2100 and PR4100 have an accessible update for the Plex Media Server now (both Plex Pass and Public versions?). I was reading that owners of these models were not finding either model listed when wanting to download the updates.
What version is it up to now? I have had my PR4100 switched off for a good while now?
Hey guys. There was a error and version 1.2.6 was accidentally released for the PR2100 and PR4100 through the WD App Store. 1.2.6 does not allow for transcoding. Please check the App store again and you should be able to downgrade back to the previous working version 1.1.4.

It sounds like a joke
There is no any WD App store, updates come thru the plex server. Could you give us a link to the WD App Store please? And is it a official announcement? Do You think all the PR2100, PR4100 owner will read this, what about the people who donât visit this forum ever? Not only version 1.2.6. but 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5 were released since version 1.1.4 What about them?

I have no prompt to upgrade to a newer version, have you set the server to use the plex pass version or standard?

Mine transcodes just fine
Sorry. I meant hardware transcoding. If you try to transcode a high bitrate H264 video, youâll notice the device struggling compared to when the hardware transcoding is enabled where it will fly. So you basically get the same performance as other WD devices and donât benefit from the hardware transcoding ability.
Please note that Plex Web was incorrectly providing PMS updates. All the updates since the version from the WD App Store have had the hardware transcoding disabled. If youâve noticed performance issues recently, this is why. To re-enable the hardware transcoding you will need to uninstall the current version and reinstall from the WD App Store. We are only becoming aware of this situation now. Steps are being taken to avoid this mess in the future. i.e. You will not get any more PMS update messages until the hardware transcoding feature is re-enabled and a release made available through the WD App Store.

The WD App Store is built into the device. You get it when you browse to the deviceâs IP. Here is some info on how to install PMS through the WD App Store. My Cloud OS 3: Install Plex App on Firmware 2.21.126 or Lower
I am not sure how non-forum members will be addressed, that is above my pay-grade. As mentioned above, we just recently became aware of this situation.
What kind of time frame we looking at on getting the hardware issue resolved ?

Doesnât look like I can downgrade through the app store. When I check the app store it doesnât even list that Plex is an installable option probably cause it already installed. I still have the .bin files for the previous versions is 1142757-24ffd60.bin the one that I want ?

You need to uninstall PMS first, then reinstall. You cannot do a straight downgrade to an earlier version.
I rolled back to 1.1.4 but donât really notice any difference. If there anyway to tell if its actually using hardware transcoding ??

I believe 1.1.4 is also a build without hardware transcoding. To test, play a video that needs transcoding that is not H264. The PMS log should show the speed value as being fairly low. Then do the same for H264 (making sure it transcodes). If you get a similar score then it is not using hardware transcoding. With hardware, the speed should be a lot higher.
Any idea what was the last version number that does for sure do hardware transcoding ?
