because you still do not have legend support directly on LG? if xplay shows that this is possible because plex has not learned it yet? can not ask the xplay developer for help?

In the native app, have you tried to change the “Burn Subtitles” setting?
Settings -> Video -> Burn Subtitles -> Only image formats
Most modern containers will have the subtitle layer as text rather than an image so this can help to reduce transcoding.

Ah, sorry about that. The Plex versions might be different from each TV and version of webOS. I’ll check what my version is when I get home.
