this may be “yea we did that” but… what if I want plex to “see” a DNLA or uPnP source? I tried, and can’t find any reference to doing this. I find “turn on DNLA” for exporting Plex content, but not for finding and connecting to it on the (local) network. Nor uPnP
I got a fetch mighty DVR, and I’ve succeeded in browsing its uPnP directory structure and using ffmpeg -i to transcode a URL, so I can see potential for a control interface which I can direct to “re-record” the FTA materials which it captures.
TL;DR -shouldn’t plex be a DNLA client as well as a server?
kind-of an indirect “TV capture card” but based on the network not plugged in to the server.
There’s already an existing suggestion discussing this option. I recommend you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes.
Same for me… don’t consider this so much a pushback but an information. I admit it’s sometimes tricky to find a related suggestion if the titles are using outdated terminologies or don’t reflect the full scope of the suggestion.
