I’ve got a lot of albums and artists in my music library that say they are unmatched. If I go in and manually give them an artist, album, and cover art, they stay unmatched because the program can’t match them. But I can. Would it help if we had a way to declare that an album was matched as far as we were concerned?
‘Unmatched’ means that Plex could not find an entry in an online database that matches your album/artist. There can be various reasons for that:
- The database may legitimately not have an entry
- Plex could not identify your album due to missing or incorrect embedded tags, incompatible folder structure, or incorrect file names. This Help page may help with this.
There may be other reasons, but those are probably the ‘big two.’
Having unmatched artists or albums isn’t necessarily a problem. About all you lose is artist biographies, album reviews, artwork, etc. If you’ve provided any of that locally, you should be fine. Being unmatched doesn’t interfere at all with Plex’s ability to serve your files for playing.
