I know i have a rather larger library of media. So what would be a better way to help load the metadata that sits on the PC server. Its on a Samsung 960 pro 512gb which is only half filled with i believe 250gb of the plex metadata

I would say you have the optimum setup with the plex metadata on your server and fast disk. However, I wonder if the cache has become stale. There is a bug in the Cache/PhotoTranscoder which can grow unbounded. Take a look at this thread below as it might help with that issue…

It seems that some people have a problem with their photo transcoder cache. My server has been crashing because the root drive is filling up with over 100GB of space being taken up in the PhotoTranscoder Cache directory. Please put in some mechanism to either run cleanup more often. Or some sanity check on this directory however plex sees fit to manage the size of this directory better. Thank you!

Ive tested watching a 4k movie at home with no one on and still buffers and unwatchable.

… what is reported in your plex dashboard when you attempt to play a 4k movie ?
