What is port 80 is already in use?

Following the install guide document here  https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-guides

What is NB WHS? and what do we do if we already run a website on port 80 on Win7?

The Windows guide should be suitable to use for XP, Vista, 7 and 8.
NB WHS requires some extra steps:

  1. Go to IIS Manager, under 'sites' make sure there are no sites running on port 80

NB WHS would be An abreviation for

Note Windows Home Server.

If you are already running a website on your machine on port 80 you need to look at the advanced Setup for WHS or change the port te website is using.

thanks for your reply. We can't change the port 80 for the exhausting website, so I did check the advanced setup here:  https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Settings-for-advanced-use-and-troubleshooting

I don't see where it says what to do if the setup requires a port other than port 80.  Did I miss the document somewhere?

Check the back-links from your linked WIKI page to this forum - either OS X or Windows specific. There should be the information you need...

Thanks for your reply. Please excuse my persistence.  I spent considerable time last night searching the Wiki for this setting and I simply can't find that specific setting. I'm installing PlexConnect on Windows, so I assume it's a configuration file that has the port number that I can change.

in short...

- aTV will request data on port 80 (http), no way to change that.

- therefore PlexConnect listens on port 80.

If you don't like that, you are in trouble... :-)

- after an initial run you will find an Settings.cfg file with the PlexConnect folder.

- you can change the port PlexConnect is listening to: https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Settings-for-advanced-use-and-troubleshooting#disabling-the-plexconnect-web-server-to-use-your-own

- now you need to setup some port forwarding from your own Webserver to PlexConnect - remember: aTV will request data on port 80. The given forum threads might help, giving a lot more detail.

Thank you for your candor. This helps. It doesn't appear changing the PlexConnect port is the viable solution for us. We will try to configure our existing website to an alternate port.
