What is the best smart TV for plex now?

Having just learned the hard way about samsung dropping support for DTS audio in all newer TV’s, what TV is best for a plex friendly environment? I’m leaning towards LG but I have been a lifelong samsung but their stupidity in dropping DTS is causing me to jump ship.

Should I return these for something else? Or has it just come to if I want all the features it’s time to abandon smartTV and get a nvidia Shield?

For me it has always been LG… the webOS is very clean and simple to use.

There is some question over whether eARC is supported via Plex yet though, so maybe don’t spend your money yet!

the simple answer is there are currently no known ‘perfect’ smart tv for plex.

even some of the newer tvs with EARC are not working as expected.

it will probably take another year or 2 for TV makers to get their stuff straightened out to support proper passthrough.

not to mention, even if with an EARC tv, you will still need an EARC receiver to avoid audio transcoding.

your best bet is still an nvidia shield which does pretty much everything except dolby vision. (it does 4k, HDR, ATMOS)

I recently picked up a new model Hisense, Plex came pre-installed and the interface is certainly a lot better than my Samsung smarthub PVR/Bluray plex app.

Really competitive pricing too, certainly worth a look

I’ve tried a few different TV’s. Within 6 months I always end up back at a $35 (on sale) Roku Streaming Stick+ or Amazon FireTV.

I actually avoid focusing on the app features on any new TV anymore.

If you are interested, I heartily recommend going through the Smart TV forums here at Plex. I ran into issues with WebOS 3.0 and regretted not reading the forums before I bought.

This.

I would suggest one of 2019 LG OLED with alpha 9 Gen 2 Processor.
