What's the difference between the Plex for Windows Player and Android?

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7621
Player Version#: 1.80.3.4008-03daab12 (for Windows)
Player Version#: 1.2.0.4488 (83522c5) Android (Samsung S23 Ultra / FireTV)

What is the difference between the Windows player and the Android player, and why is the Android player for the Amazon FireTV different than the one running on my Samsung S23 Ultra?

So lets start. I have a movie that if open on my Windows player either here at the office or at home on my W11 or W10 machine I am able to watch or resume without issue. But when I open it on my Android app it studders and it totally unplayable.

On my Samsung S23 Ultra if I open a 4K HDR movie on my Plex app and start to play it there issue, the plays normally (remotelly and locally), but I open the same movie on my FireTV 4K Max, or any of my 4K Cube’s plex gives me this error: An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.

I also noticed on my Samsung S23 Ultra and go to settings → advanced → player ; it shows the H265 max level recommedation is 6.2, when I look on my FireTV it shows the recommendation is 5.1, and I also don’t see an Optional audio support on the FireTV like I do on my Samsung. I am not sure why there is so much discrepancy in the two platforms with the same version number?

BTW, it’s not like this has never worked, it was working a couple of weeks ago, then it started acting up, and now its just a pain in my ass. I just don’t understand why it works in one player but not in the other, I would think Plex dev would be testing their stuff making sure it works properly; that its close to or the same as their other player.

I am happy to add logs but I am not sure what that process involves.

Thanks,

Not sure why the Admin’s moved this out of the Player-Windows when it pertains to the Player for Windows along side the Android version. Maybe they forgot how to read? lol

(sigh)

Wildly different hardware with wildly different capabilities maybe? What are the particulars on the files you are having trouble with?
