Whats the point of getting Plex pass when there is nothing to show for it????

I am NOT going to renew my Plex pass.
I saw the Plex Media Player and decided to support the Plex team but the product is junk. And it is going nowhere. It is the same piece of junk as when it first was introduced.
Why not just build on a decent product like OpenPHT.? That works perfectly, is slick and is here now. I would gladly pay my Plex Pass money for that.
But not this piece of junk called Plex Media Player. The old Media Center with Windows was a better product.
I won’t even bother to explain all the issues that exist with it since no one answers my questions from Plex anyways.
What an Awful interface!!
I have to scroll sideways for pages and pages and then an ESC key press doesn’t bring me back to the start!! I have to press the arrows over and over and over and over and over and over…get the picture??
Why does the “Folder View” show just empty boxes? Why is audio out of synch and there is no option to correct it? Why does the mouse work in some places but not others?
You guys are a shame. Finish Plex Media Player before making add ons for Kodi…you guys have the attention span of a child

Plex-Pass is FAR more than just access to a few apps like PMP. PMP is probably not the product you want to use if that is the way you are trying to use it. It’s a big screen interface not a PC interface. The advantage it has is the ability to play far more media back in direct play mode than having to transcode. You can always use a web browser to navigate or search for media and then “cast” it to your PMP.

  • Early Access to new Plex features.
  • Access to preview release versions of the Plex Media Server and other Apps before they’re released generally.
  • Enjoy an app on us. Our mobile Plex apps (Android, iOS, Windows, and Windows Phone) are yours free.
  • Premium features like Mobile Sync, Cloud Sync, and Camera Upload.
  • Premium music libraries: Take your music experience to eleven! Enjoy better artwork and artist bios, album reviews, improved matching, lyrics from LyricFind, and more.
  • Plex Home: Managed users, fast user switching, fine-grained sharing restrictions - parental controls and a whole lot more.
  • Trailers & Extras: Automatically gather high-quality movie trailers, interviews, and extras for movies in your Library.
  • Access to dedicated Plex Pass forums where you can ask the Plex Ninjas questions as well as vote up new feature requests.
  • Ability to use DVR features if you have a supported over the air or cable tuner with included EPG.
  • Cloud Server
  • Streaming Brain Features and faster transfers for Plex-Pass users.
  • Possible Hardware based transcoding which is currently in BETA testing.

That’s a LOT OF GOODNESS for a few bucks a month. Heck some programs cost more than this per month just for an EPG listing for a DVR.

I got the Lifetime for 2 reasons - the ability to create mixes using Plex Mix. Sorta like iTunes’ genius, but no need for iTunes any longer. The second, more important reason - syncing content onto my phone. I no longer need to use iTunes to place music on my phone for traveling. I can sync at any time even when I am traveling. ITunes is now relegated to backups and updates for my iDevices.

Two words. Plex Cloud. It’s incredibly awesome & will save you a fortune in hardware that you no longer need to buy.

Yes Ok. But the Plex Media Player is for a big screen you say? Why in the world would I want to see pictures of my videos 2 feet high? A big screen gives you much more ability to see more of your library. Not to mention having to scroll endlessly sideways back and forth? So many people complained about this and still it remains.
And what’s up with the "Folder View? It shows nothing but blank boxes?
My server has been set up perfectly according to the standards for naming conventions.
Everything works perfect with OpenPHT and there is no need for me to upload logs or anything to troubleshoot.
What about the BIG flaw? Syncing sound with the video?? No option to fix this?
And the Web interface? In OpenPHT I can direct stream 4k videos with no issues. The Plex web interface tells me the server can’t transcode the video. But transcoding is off, and Direct play is on. No problem in OpenPHT nor Plex Media Player for this one.
The developers should fix the front end!!! There is no excuse for releasing buggy and poorly designed user interfaces.
It’s for this reason I will not review my Plex Pass.
Sure the cloud may be great but if I am not happy viewing content what’s the point?

Almost forgot. Three words. Plex for Kodi. All the playback goodness & flexibility of the Kodi media player plus the the library functions of Plex Media Server so for example you can play videos with a DTS soundtracks on the Amazon Fire TV 4K without transcoding or adjust video delay if sound is out of synch.

BTW I think that the front end for Plex is fine. I am much happier using a dedicated client with a nice remote like a Roku or Amazon Fire TV 4K rather than hooking up a Windows PC to my 60" TV

Not sure if you were aware that PMP is available to everyone, with or without a PlexPass

You can read about why they created PMP here:

Looking through your posts, I don’t see where you have listed or asked about any issues. If you feel like posting info on your setup and what issues you are having with it the forums folks should be able to help you.

The DEV team has already stated that the V2 interface will have changes to address this. You can look the Plex for Kodi addon to see the direction it should be going

None of the Plex Apps display artwork in folder view

Very happy with my Plex Pass. The Apple TV interface is very good – could be improved, but still very good. I use it on my 2 big screens as well as my projector downstairs. I suppose I could use OpenPHT but then I sacrifice other useful apps like Netflix and Hulu, which are available on the Apple TV without having to change HDMI inputs.

Yeah Plex Media Player been in a rough state since it’s inception… Just add it to the list of bites too big to chew for Plex.

Too bad they don’t actually hire a UI/UX team to thouroughly refactor their products across the board. PMP, Web, Android TV, Sonos, Smart TVs, PS4, etc. Android is a surprisingly well designed app considering it’s siblings.

I’m really happy with their server though. I’d happily recommend a Plex Pass to anyone.

You know what is really fun and great with PMP? (Besides a UI that’s so beyond hopeless i don’t even)
It cant even play the same formats at Plex TV-app, iOs etc can.
Useless pos is putting it mildly.
