Thanks to Orthogonal and others who have got PlexConnect working again! I have got mine up and running. I agree it is a lot slower than before, but I still happy as long as it's working. I'm no expert, but my guess the increased loading time of pages is due to the SSL, and verifying certificates. May be someone can look at it, once the changes are finalized.

Have you updated to the new github pull request? Speed enhancements have just been incorporated according to orthogonal, or rather the bottleneck has been removed.

Still thinking about how to make the cert generation process more elegant without compromising security, but I've seen several reports that the iPhone Configuration Utility (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1466) on Windows will actually work for this. Agreed; do not need the cert files, need to eliminate the need to upload the cert entirely and have plexConnect be the trusting auth to get it back to its roots (no jailbreak/modification necessary to make it work).

I can confirm that the iphone app on windows works
you just need to create your certificates
insttall the iphone app from here -> http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL1466/zh_CN/iPhoneConfigUtilitySetup.exe
create a profile in the same way you did on your blog
and then connect the atv and install it
after that all is good ... wife is watching in the bedroom now :)

I've added some instructions for using OpenSSL in Windows to generate the certificates to the blog post. Hopefully it helps some people out.
Has anyone got this working on ML Server yet? I tried to create certs on Server.app and serve the page from there (exporting the certs to AppleTV), and also some reverse proxy hackery, but no dice.
Doing it with reaperhulk's method gives the "unavailable" message on AppleTV straight away, and trying certhacks above causes PlexConnect.py to not start:

Are some saying iPhone Configuration Utility for Windows is allowing them to create and install the .mobileconfig file? Curious as I tried that last night, albeit on a Mac, and it would not install the profile to my Apple TV (3rd Generation, v5.3).

I love that there is a solution, and so grateful for the hard work. I am hitting an embarrassing brick wall. My spouse has a Mac, but it's unable to be upgraded beyond 10.6.8 and the current Apple Configurator 1.3.1 requires 10.7.
Do you know of any version of Configurator that works on 10.6.8?
