So similar to the topic here Google, Amazon, Vudu, Itunes, ...., it seems that obtaining new content, especially movies, is a headache. As I imagine many Plex users ultimately want, we just want to pay for content and have it viewed and managed in a single location i.e. by Plex. The hurdles posed by DRM, and the seemingly endless desire by media companies to place their media in protected silo’s, in a word, sucks.
Maybe the recent deal with Tidal portends a future model for Plex, where users can purchase movies directly (start with small studios who just want an income stream), but I am not holding out too much hope. It seems like logging into your Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Google, Movies Anywhere, etc. account to watch the movie you purchased is here for a while.
