Where is actor data coming from?

Where is actor dating coming from for movies? It seems like the majority of my movies are missing their key actors from the actor lists.

When filtering by actor, there is no Bruce Willis in any of the Die Hard movies.

There is no Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta

There is no Milla Jovavich in the Resident Evil movies

There is no Tom Cruise or Jamie Fox in Collateral.

I could go on.



I’ve also found no means to manually correct those. Or is there?

It depends on your main metadata agent and the order of the agents. With the default set of agents, actor data can come from Freebase, TheMovieDB or Wikipedia.

I was using the out-of-the-box configuration, which had Cine21 and Freebase as priority agents. After setting it to Freebase, moving TheMovieDB to the top of the list and forcing a full refresh, they updated with much better descriptions. The genre's also updated to much fewer and simpler ones and the posters were better.
