Where is the Folder View Option for Photos???

Hallo,

I just realized that the folder view option for photos is gone? I used to have folders for every year like 2004, 2005, 2006 etc. and inside those folders subfolders named after the concrete situations like “Birthday 12.03.” with the specific pictures inside. Just the way everything is organized on my HDD.
Now suddenly I get shown all the stuff at the same level, so there is 2004, “Birthday 1.03” and all of the pictures not in a folder structure but directly when entering the photos section.

It’s the same thing for the iOS and Web App so there has to be a problem with the server software. Does anybody has the same problem? Has it something to do with the new timeline-feature?

Thanks or help.

Cheers.

Hallo Plex Entwickler,

Für mich also jetzt absolut unbrauchbar.

Danke

Yes, I see the same problem. It happened in the last few weeks/months. Photos in Plex is no longer usable for me because viewing photos by folder was the only way that made sense for my photos, which were organized by a hierarchy of folders.

Please bring back folder view!!! Timeline is useless if you have millions of photos.

Please bring back photo folder view in the same folder structure as on the plex media server computer (see folder and subfolder structure, not all existing folders in whatever sort order is chosen). For me, it no longer allows me to view my 50,000+ photos in an organization I have already made. Creating albums to mimic the folder-subfolder structure I have is just too time consuming.

Same problem here - Thought that I had misconfigured something

We need the folders options back. All of my photos are now a complete mess in Plex with no reasonable option to keep them in order. Unacceptable. Come on Plex… how about a response of some sort?

I just tried the same thing - pointed Plex to my nicely organized folder tree of photos and see that it just lumps everything together! WTF PLEX!

Fully agree

Bumping this thread… Can’t believe no one has responded! I have 50K of photos all arranged by year (with sub-folders) on my server. Plex USED to see it just fine but like others, I can’t see them any longer.

The ONLY workaround I found is to search for the folder name like “2016” and lo and behold the “Photo Album” shows up!! When I select the album the sub-folders are all there too.

What gives Plex? Love everything about the product except this annoyance - and it’s really annoying when mobile.

Same Problem here! Has anyone a solution?

this has made the photo part of plex on ATV4 completely useless…

Here Here! Come on guys, this ain’t rocket science!

Hello, I am also very interested in learning how to access photos organized by folders through the Plex app on Apple TV 4k. Something similar works for videos, but not for photos.

While I appreciate the ability to view photos by camera ISO setting, aperture, shutter speed, lens, etc, the lack of folder browsing is very puzzling, to say the least.

It appears to be an intentional omission. The lack of any response to the above comments/complaints seems to confirm this suspicion.

come one… this is ridiculous… a folder based viewing system makes the most sense and is how most of us organize our data… WTF…

Try this
