I have PlexPy setup to send me notifications when things are added to my Plex server. Ever since v1 of Plex I’ve started getting erroneous notifications that movies that have been in Plex for ages have been “added” again. Now these movies show up as unwatched and at the top of my “recently added” list even though they’ve been on my NAS for years.

This has nothing to do with PlexPy. Plex lost these files and know added them again.
Happened 1 month ago for 50% of my library. Nothing had changed.
Ok but he could probably go through the log files and give you an idea of where to start looking. No need to bite my head off.

What’s going on?
Plex would not change the watched status so it now showing up as unwatched is a sign. My guess, without knowing more, is that your movies were previously unmatched. Plex note matched them. Watched status are tracked by an identifier based on the agent used. If a watched status changed, it could be that the agent changed. An unmatched movie now being matched would change this tracking and now look like a new, unwatched movie.
I hit a worse version of this bug last night where Plex dropped awareness of probably 40% of my TV collection. It was clear when this happened because our normal “nightrotation” playlist was cut almost in half. I went to the plex server to find many shows I had previously tagged with the Genre “nightrotation” for the dynamic playlist had lost the tag and were recently “added” to Plex even though they’ve been there all along.
Now I’m seeing other database issues as well (file info isn’t showing data about the file like resolution or bitrate) and when I do “Analyze” in my TV library, it does the first show and then stops.
Is your media on a network or external drive? almost sounds like Plex Media Server is not seeing the media, or at least temporary not seeing the media.
The only time i ever have PlexPy give duplicate notifications like this, is when a better version of the movie is added.
If you haven’t done other updates to your library, the info may still be in your scanner logs. If you can provide all of them and let me know the title of 1 show and specifically 1 episode, I can take a look.
