Why does my Plex switch to a relayed connection instead of a direct connection?

I was wondering if anybody could answer this in layman’s terms? Why does my Plex switch to a relayed connection instead of a direct connection? Sometimes it is on a direct connection on my TV (TCL Roku TV) and the picture quality is great, then out of the blue it switches to the relayed connection, with terrible resolution. I have NO idea why. I have not altered anything, it just is on there sometimes, and other times it’s not. I have an AT&T U-verse modem with a fiber connection. My Plex server is on my Windows 10 Home, 64 bit. Any answers or help would be appreciated.

I think that if you have Remote access enabled, but not working properly and the app can’t find your server on local network you would see this behavior. Have you tried disabling secure connections on the server and allow fallback to insecure connection on the client?
