I’ve recently started to use Plex and found an annoying change in the display of artist names which I’d like to stop happening.
My media data is all from an iTunes media folder which had already had inconsistencies in naming corrected. My music collection spans a number of countries but the bulk is either English or Japanese. In iTunes all the Japanese artists appear with their names displayed in Japanese and sorted on their name written in katakana (a phonetic Japanese script) to ensure consistency across platforms which is not possible with kanji.
For some reason some (not all) of these names are displaying in English (that’s to say the Japanese name written in Roman alphabet) when I view artists in the Plex library. This English information is not in the file metadata so must be coming from something Plex is doing. This is independent of the language chosen for the UI and happens with it set to both Japanese and English.
Is there a way to stop this happening?
