I’ve been using Plex for years now but I cant justify spending any money on it while the skip forward/back, easily my most used feature, works properly.
Surely you know what I mean, it’s when you skip back repeatedly and it starts jumping forward by several minutes. Or sometimes you can’t skip back past a certain point.
It wouldn’t be a big deal if this managed to squeak past QA for a single patch that was hotfixed out. But it has existed for years, across multiple platforms.
Because it is so fundamental a feature, it makes the entire program look amateurish. No matter how brilliant and innovative every other aspect of your platform gets, it gives off “one guy in his basement supported by Patreon” type vibes.
When your main tent pole is broken, you need to stop adding more acts to the circus and fix it.
PS. As a side note, why skip back 10 and forward 30? Can you just make both 10 please? Or better yet, customized skip intervals? AFTER you fix things, of course.
On what client (platform, version) are you experiencing this behavior?
There’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to customize the skip forward/backward duration. Please comment/vote in that thread for that feature in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
I experience these issues on web in windows 10 on Chrome, Vivaldi, and Firefox browsers. I have also seen it on my android devices. If you google “plex skip back bug” you will find a number of people experiencing the same issue. Plex version 4.87.2, happening for at least a year.
Skipping while paused seems to be more reliable, it’s mostly an issue when skipping back while the media is playing. I tend to use hotkeys more than the UI, if that matters.
