There have been at least twenty six topics bout this (I linked them below), so what I’m asking the Plex production team is: is this feature even being considered? If not, could you say so? Even a ‘no’ would feel better than the silence.
The main topic is nine years old, so asking this there seems like yelling into a void.
Mods, please don’t close this as a duplicate request, because I’m not suggesting/asking for the feature, I’m asking for the Plex team to respond, given how old and popular of a request it is.
I’d love to see a preference to change the skip to something slightly under 30 seconds. If for instance I want to skip 1 minute forward, say to skip a show’s opening credits, if they are precisely 60 seconds long and you don’t get the timing perfect you end up skipping into the show’s return, and having to then skip backwards to find the start.
If instead the skip actually moved by say 29 seconds, it would make up for the time lost raising the playback bar and end up closer to the actual time …
I’ve looked for this item in feature requests and it looks like they are closed for voting (I apologize if I missed some.) I use Channels DVR and Emby, both provide a customizable skip duration. I use Fire TV and Android clients, so I think this feature would not be platform specific. I like the global watchlist from subscribed streaming services, so I’m trying to switch back to Plex. For me, this feature would be welcome. Thanks.

I would really like to be able to adjust the skip-ahead/back duration. It seems set at 30/10 seconds with no other options.
Is there a way to change this?

Is there a way on the IOS version of Plex player to change the rewind duration and the fast forward duration from 10 seconds and 30 seconds respectively?
I can see this has been requested before but no solution it seems as yet

You cannot currently customize the duration for skip forward/backward. There’s a feature suggestion asking to change that.

On the Plex mobile app for Android, can you please let us rewind the video 30 seconds instead of 10 seconds? 10 seconds is nothing, it is not enough time. 30 seconds or more would be great.
so,
we have the 30 second rewind button in ios flavor of plex.
but hulu+netflix have 10 seconds.
my audiobooks within the “music” app have 15 seconds
(15 seconds forward).
my eyetv defaults to 7.
7 seems kinda oddball to me,
but, why not have the option
to pick our own rewind length?

Plex aren’t usually commenting in feature suggestions unless there’s (a) questions to clarify the suggestion or (b) a definite „No“. That includes discussions of their roadmap in general.
There’s the occasional exception, when employees attempt to catch up on certain topics. Based on how the forum reacts to such updates, I can see why they’re not often doing this (e.g. „we’ll be looking into how this could be implemented“ resulting in angry reactions like „you promised to implement and haven’t done so in X months“).
This feature request has a lot of upvotes/comments. Why isn’t Plex building it?
We need to make sure that our limited resources are focused on building features that you will love while also staying true to our product vision and goals. Some features and enhancement requests might look very simple, but these might not be the best solutions considering the longer term plan for the product. Sometimes things with less votes happen due to serendipitous events.
Let this not discourage you from posting your feedback on the forum. We assure you that we review every request and will follow up if we have any questions
