Why is Plex Pass - a paid service - basically a beta program?

I know that we can enjoy testing cutting edge features here, but I feel like there should be a stable release channel for Plex Pass users which won’t break current functions and which has fewer bugs. Using Plex Pass versions feel often like they are nightly builds.

Of course this would add more complexity since there are so many platforms, but I have no better idea.

There is. When you go to the Settings > Server page, at the bottom of the page is a dropdown labeled ‘Update Channel.’ The options are “Public” and “Plex Pass.” The “Public” option is the “Stable release” channel.

As @beckfield states, you can move to the Public Channel or, as many do, wait a few days to a week before upgrading to the latest Plex Pass version.
I am usually on the latest PP version but am usually a week or so behind in updating. I wait to see what issues are before doing anything. Sometimes that means waiting for a little bit if things are seriously borked but it save a lot of pain.

And to spell it out in clear what has been hinted at. The Plex pass release is not required to get the Plex pass features. The stable release will work perfectly fine with your Plex pass and give you all the features it holds.
