i wonder if anything new with Tidal is being worked on at all.

It’s unclear, we were sort of hoping it would just magically work without more details from them on it, but perhaps not.

Nope you have to update the API client side to have access.

details?

This is from the Volumio community:

"About 2 weeks ago TIDAL contacted us providing the technical informations required to implement Hi-Res FLAC in TIDAL Connect. And guess what, we are working on it

We don’t have yet an ETA for when this will be released, as we must follow TIDAL’s indication. But rest assured that we want to be the first to have it out "

"Good news. We got green ligth from TIDAL.

Now we will perform extensive testing, and if all is well, new release with High-res FLAC will be out on 8th November "

Good to know, thanks!

(Although that is TIDAL connect, which is … different than what we’re doing)

yes, that part is confusing but also english isn’t his first language. But their app has the app and tidal connect support as well… of course Plex could be different in the way it works with APIs.

Also, that post is from a few months ago, but from what i understood they needed to do something with their API implementation to allow the new Hi Res FLAC. And from what I’m reading from Roon which isn’t out they had to change their implementation as well. What that means for Plex I don’t know but though that information could help somewhat.

Tidal connect was done first as that affects hardware partners, then API for 3rd party access has just started to roll out over last week or so, Lumin have it done as far as I know.

WiiM have implemented Tidal Max compatibility for Tidal Connect and from within their own app.

Hope Plex updates their Tidal API with this and other needed improvements. :crossed_fingers:

Really want Qobuz support as well but they seem to be not interested in pursuing this side of things. I could use PlexAmp for all my needs if they did. Currently it’s my backup system in the home but use it all the time out and about.

Personally I just want them to update the Tidal API so it’s a better experience. Specially when using Plexamp.

So Roon just launched Tidal Max support. But I prefer plexamp Plexamp.

Any news in regards to Playing Tidal Tracks in HiRes Flac? Just got an email from Tidal saying they are consolidating their HiFi and Hifi Plus plans in just one plan which will include High Res Flac files. This will happen in April. Would be great if Plexamp would support the better quality files.

For me, HiRes flac & MQA is working on mac but not linux (plexamp v4.9.5)

I was also visiting to see if it is already possible to play hires FLAC Tidal audio. Would be great to not having to use the Tidal app. Thanks.

@abihf can you elaborate on how you got this working on mac? Do you use it in Plexamp?

curious as well…

Plex still only sees account as HiFi so only get 44.1/16. Now there is no Hifi only Max I think its time to update the API integration.
