Will Plex Amp support Tidal MAX?

I see the updated Tidal docs for Plex now show the new tiers and it does mention hiresolution but I can’t get them to be anything higher than 44.1 what am I doing wrong?

you might be projecting all of our collective hi-res hopes and dreams into your reading of the updated Plex/Tidal docs

nice that the web documentation has been updated to reflect the new Tidal tier(s) … but i don’t think Tidal hi-res FLAC is available [yet] in Plex/Plexamp apps

personally, i’ll be happy when my search for taylor swift midnights returns exactly ONE entry for 16/44 FLAC … not sure i want 4 (or is it 14 ?)

Well there is always an explicit and non explicit version of her albums and likely a slightly differ mix version.

agree … only way to avoid all the streaming versions is to buy a copy

Which is what I do. Only use them for discovery these days. Too many get removed and I was fed up with a virtual library that kept changing. Only use for discovery purposes play it more than once I buy it.

Which client are you using?

Streaming services are great as radios to sample artists and travel through the albums etc… With Plexamp finding music is so easy, as soon as I find something I don’t have, if available for purchase I grab it and add to my personal library. Cause you never know if it will be there or not especially when you have to hear that song.

Any update please?

Unlikely at this point, sorry.

Any update?

+1 for this. I’ve not seen the integration specs but it’s possible as Innuos have also integrated (recently switching from MQA to Tidal Hi-res support)

Well this won’t happen now Plex have announced they are not partnering with Tidal anymore. This is a big kick to Plex and PlexAmp.

Right, I just read the announcement. How does this affect Plexamp?!

Same as it affects Plex they are the same product. Just a different interface.

Yes, that’s why I’m so concerned. TIDAL doesn’t have a full-fledged Linux app, which is what all my systems run (and Android). I guess I go back to Spotify.

There is always Roon, which is what I use mainly anyway. PlexAmp has always been just a backup as it still lacks lots of features I use.

Of Audivana now works on Linux.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been playing around with MPD, since I have started collecting more hd music files played natively through the dac. I might look for a MPD player that connects to TIDAL or other music streaming service too.

Volumio then might suit but they charge to access Tidal via their cloud bit.

Or just use any UPnP server for your local music and use BubbleUPnP server and app to access and play Tidal or Qobuz to renderers. It’s possible to access remotely as well but not as nice as PlexAmp.

Or their is Lyrion Music Server formally Logitech Media Server.

Thanks again. I will research more. One of my requirements is the player must support gapless playback—one of the reasons I liked Plexamp on linux.
