It seems like TheTVDB v3 introduced a new “Alternate Order” for seasons and episodes. (This is different from the “DVD order” which was already available before.)
I’m just here to upvote this. I don’t have an overabundance of positive things to say about TheTVDB, but their addition of alternate order seems like a concession on some shows that there are issues with. Now we just need Plex to be able to use it!!
In Money Heist, Official Oder is the order of release from the Spanish Network Antenna 3 with a first season of 15 episodes with runtime ranging from 65 to 80 minutes per episode.
Netflix then released this show’s first season but edited each episode to better reflect their own content runtime (episodes too long for US viewers apparently), and so appeared Netflix Money Heist S01 & S02 with 13 and 9 episodes respectively with runtimes ranging from 45 to 55 minutes.
Antenna 3’s S01 is Netflix’s S01 & S02.
Antenna 3’s S02 and Netflix’s S03, AFAIK are identical in runtimes, episodes, and content.
So both are correct, that’s why OP wanted to know if the Plex team plan to implement this new TheTVDB feature “Alternate Order” in addition to the older one already implemented of “DVD order”
I’d love to be able to do this too. I just accidentally spoilered myself by reading the epsiode description not knowing it was using a “different” ordering format. Then I found out about the change Netflix has made to the length etc.
Even the damn epsiode pictures are now spoilering me… damn.
I’d appreciate it a lot if we were able to choose between alternate or “original” order (including the different episode descriptions)
If you spend your time doing that, manually adding info you better make sure to lock all the fields once you do. Otherwise when you update the library again Plex will automatically retrieve the metadata from The TVDB and erase and overwrite everything you spent time manually entering.
