Synology NAS > Bluetooth dongle transmitter > Bluetooth dongle receiver > AVR
This would be used for audio only. I can’t find any option on the Plex Media Server or Player to route the audio from the NAS through the attached BT dongle. The Synology Audio Suite has an option to select BT out and will send to a BT speaker.
The server itself doesn’t have any means to playback your media – therefore it also won’t use any bluetooth dongles connected to the NAS. You’ll do that from a Plex client app (player).
How are you streaming your media to the AVR / TV?
As a side note… you seriously might want to update your Plex Media Server. Version 4.12.3 is a version of Plex Web that was bundled with versions of Plex Media Server 1.18.3 which was released in late 2019.
Thanks. I’ve updated to version 4.76.1. I had installed the Windows player on a PC but couldn’t find any audio out selection in there.
Like I said, the Synology package called Audio Station (a “bare-bones” iTunes/Plex program) has a way to select the BT as audio out if one is attached. The other choice is “My Computer” which sends the audio to the PC. I was hoping Plex could do the same.
I was hoping to keep the PC out of the loop other than logging into Plex to control playback. In Audio Station I log in, select the BT option and stream songs to a BT speaker. The idea was to stream to a BT receiver attached to my AVR instead.
