Windows 11 wake on lan not working

Server Version#:1.24.0.4930

I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and the wake on lan no longer works with Plex. I can still use an Android app and wake it so it’s not Windows 11 alone.

I’ve tried looking at all the settings and wake on lan used to work with both Android apps and the Roku app. Now neither will wake my server PC.

Wake on Lan is not, nor has ever been a part of any Plex player I know off

It might not be your settings that have changed, there have been changes to some of the plex client apps (Can confirm samsung tv app for sure) and that might be your problem too…

But as Dane22 says, WOL has never been built in too any plex player. I would even go as far as saying that Plex don’t think as WOL as a feature they want plex to support - They are actively making it impossible to use WOL with plex with the way some of the new updated client login to the Plex server…

I used a dd-wrt router to detect traffic going to the plex server and then send a magic packet to the plex server from the dd-wrt router - but that dosent work with the updated Samsung client.

I found that Emby does what I want in regards to WOL so you might want to take a look a that…

Witch method did you use to wake your plex server?

Similar issue. My Apple TV’s used to wake up my sleeping media server running windows 10. now after upgrading to W11 it no longer works. I check the windows wake on lan settings and they’re all turned on. may downgrade back down to 10

I’m keeping Windows 11- it’s so much faster than 10. Opening things like the settings is so snappy in 11. I have a lifetime plex pass and I’ve used plex for maybe a decade now so I’m not switching to something else. It definitely seems like something in Windows 11 since it used to work before which was why I wanted to report it. But if it’s not something plex supports, that’s disappointing but not something that will drive me away.

I already have a wifi mesh router connected to my fios router which means that I’ve never reliably been able to get to my plex server from outside of my network anyway. And, while I’m on my network, I use a separate android app to send the magic packet to the machine to wake it up. So, I can still wake it remotely, it’s just an extra step.

You know, I don’t really care where the problem is. I’ve just about had it with Plex. Every time they change something, my Roku or FireTV or Sony TV apps stop working. I would just like an app that will keep working! My recent renewal payment to Plex was my last. In fact, I’m thinking about protesting it with my credit card company. I didn’t get Plex so I could spend my time as an IT trouble shooter. I just wanted to save my DVDs to a computer and have the movies available on my TVs. Plex is a perfect example of more can be too much.
