Windows DNS configuration - help

I’m attempting to set this up with my internal Windows DNS and am having issues. If I create a apple.com domain and a cname within that to trailers pointing to my plexconnect sever, dns resolves but all other apple.com addresses stop resolving. This makes sense because there are no other entries other than trailers cname. Does anyone have the specifics on how to do this correctly? I feel like a forwarder needs to be setup to route all other requests on. What am I missing?

Take a look at this sticky thread, you are probably better asking in there if you still need help after reading:

Thanks. I’ve read that thread and he went with iis and dns… I was hoping to use your web server and my local network’s dns.

I was having internet connection issues using the built in dns. To fix it, I’ve added an entry on the apple TV’s host file to do the name resolution at this point but isn’t elegant.

The more I mess around with it the more I appreciate the all in one solution you provided but I need to figure out my issues with the default solution and network connectivity.

Thanks for all your hard work. I’m close to upgrading to 5.1+ for full support and leaving the native client behind.

Is the device you are running PlexConnect on in a DMZ?

No. All in the same network.

What is the entry you have in the host file?

[ip.address.to.plexconnect] trailers.apple.com

Have you disabled the PlexConnect DNS server in the settings.cfg file?
