Windows specific instructions for creating and installing the SSL cert

Problem with final step of installing cert profile to aTV.

I ran each step until I got to the installation on the configuration profile. The aTV is connected and I have the "install" prompt but nothing happens when I click it.

The only glitch I had during the process was when the bat file ended with trailers.der, the computer didn't know what to do with the file.  I manually installed it into the trusted root certification section and it seemed to accept it.

I then tried putting it into the personal certs section, no change,  Any ideas? I am running WIn7 64bit and 5.1 on the aTV.

update the Atv to 5.3 worked for me.

Murderdoch,

Why are you using the old XML-templates version of Plexconnect now? Previously you were using Plexconnect-master.

I am.  I was tired and frustrated and I threw in an old picture.  the masters one shows the same error.

Well, you are not really helping an already confusing troubleshooting problem by including misleading information.

I am.  I was tired and frustrated and I threw in an old picture.  the masters one shows the same error.

Looking at that picture you're trying to cd to a directory from within python, that's not how it works.

Open a new command prompt, then cd into the PlexConnect directory then type python PlexConnect.py

Do the following.

1. Press the Windows "Start" button.
2. In the search box type "cmd". (don't type the quotes ")
3. This should find cmd.exe at the top of the list, click on it to open a Command Prompt.
4. The Command Prompt should start with the following directory:- C:\Users\Murdoch followed by a flashing cursor.
5. Type "cd Desktop\Plex1\PlexConnect-master" and press enter. (again don't type the quotes ")
6. Now type "python PlexConnect.py" and press enter. (again don't type the quotes ")

PlexConnect should now run.

can someone help me?

This is what I get when using your steps roidy.  The python plexconnect.py didn't work so I tried it again only I put a_ inbetween python and plex no luck just plexconnect.py only opened up the file where I can edit it.  I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter where each file goes but is there a better place to put them maybe and PMS has nothing to do with this problem cause it is open and its the latest version right?

Would you like me to screen shot step by step of what I`m doing to make things less confusing??  Or should I start fresh.  All I need help with is getting the plexconnect to work I pretty much know the rest.

Murderdoch,

What folder do you have python installed in?

In the COmmand Prompt (CMD) can you run

path_to_Python\python.exe C:\users\murdoch\desktop\plex1\plexconnect-master\plexconnect.,py

Replacing path_to_Python with the answer to my first question.,

As an example.  If python is installed in C:\Python then the command will be

c:\python\python.exe C:\users\murdoch\desktop\plex1\plexconnect-master\plexconnect.,py

Hakom,

The details from the plexconnect process you have shown does not show plexconnect starting on port 443.  What version are you running.

I would actually suggest you follow the thread READ BEFORE POSTING pinned at the top of the forum (http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/69410-read-before-posting/) and post all the information in your own thread instead of continuing on this one.  It will be a lot easier to follow the help being given to you as well as for the community to follow your issue and provide help.  (in fact on that exact thread Baa says;

One more thing...

Please refrain from hijacking threads with different issues. Thinking about rephrasing "I have the exact same problem, just different..." seems to be a good indication for ongoing hijacking. :-D)

So that did work was my fault the file was called python27 it didnt hit me till right now.   So here is the next issue if I do remember there should be 3 plexConnect files in there but I have 2.  So I guess the question is where did it go and how can I fix it?

does anyone know why the iphont config utility will not recognize atv3 but itunes does?  is there another software i can use?

Murderdoch,

I think there is only 2 files plexconnect.py and plexconnect.pyc (I am not at home to look at my setup at the moment) you seem to have a plexconnect.txt I dont remember this existing, Therefore the missing file is the pyc (Which I understand is the Compiled Python code), this is generated when plexconnect.py runs successfully.  Looks like your getting an error that is stopping this form running fully, I will have to leave that for the Dev's or someone with more Python skills to debug as I am a bit lost by it.

Might be worth changing logging=high in the settings.cfg and then attach the log file as this might help the devs in assisting you.

does anyone know why the iphont config utility will not recognize atv3 but itunes does?  is there another software i can use?

it might be that iTunes is opening the ATV in recovery mode which means that the iPhone Utility cannot access it (As you can only do a restore in this mode), close itunes and try it again

it says my dns server is no alive???

Murderdoch, the name is case sensitive, its:-

PlexConnect.py

NOT

plexconnect.py

The capital P and C make all the difference

Murderdoch,

Can you updates settings.cfg to have

loglevel = high

stop and restart PlexConnect.py

visit trailers on the ATV and then post the log file (not the command window content)

Also the Certificate on the ATV was it created at the same time as the pem file in PlexConnect?

Do you have more than 1 profile on the ATV?
