Windows version by end of 2010?

My post is dated jan 19th. Today is feb 3rd. There is still no sign of it. Just around the corner was clearly optimistic.

I know, things have been a little quiet from the development team…

Interesting post via Twitter…

plexapp @Raekob Plex Media Server for Windows is in internal testing, is that what you mean by “Plex for Windows” ?

I saw this search result on google:

I followed the download link, but was only able to download a .dmg file and not a .exe. It looks like PMS for Windows is very near.

SOOOOO CLOSE !

Screenshots and Wiki documents, it’s done. I hope they will release it soon.

Can’t wait for this.

In the mean time I would like to know if there will be any way to migrate the PMS from a Mac to a PC PMS?? I would hate to have to rebuild the PMS again (to many custom entries).

Also trying to figure out if I need to get a beefier CPU to run Windows PMS. In the WiKi it recommends a DuoCore 2.4 for transcoding. I have a 2.16 Ghz Core2Duo right now. Any recommendations?

I was thinking the same thing. I’m hoping to move PMS onto my HP MediaSmart Server EX490 which is only a Celeron. Might need to do a CPU (maybe RAM) upgrade in order for it to transcode properly. I would be interested in what the developers/testers are currently using and their findings?

Great news indeed! Really getting my hopes up here! Transcoding never worked so well with my iMac anyways, but my windows box is blazing so this is gonna be fun to try out. A migration option would be nice but just being able to use the win box for this is awesome! Hope it arrives soon!

We’re currently in private beta for the windows Plex Media Server. If you’d like to help out, feel free to send me a PM, but bear in mind that we’re looking for people who:

  1. Are active PLEX users and forum contributors.

  2. Are deeply familiar with Windows, crash reports, dump files, logs, etc.

As far as migration, it’s as easy as copying over a directory or two.

@elan

I know that a client for playback on Windows PCs is currently not available. However, I would like to know will there be one in the near future?

Thanks..
