A few things I want to reiterate/expand on: Metadata- OMG the metadata. I realize there’s no “single source” for all of this, but it’s such a crap shoot, and almost feels like it’s pulling incomplete data (I can go to the sites the data comes from and find posters that Plex doesn’t present to me as an option). Make PlexPass-only premium data…something to clean it up and also smooth over the fallout from Freebase going belly up.
Sync- I personally don’t have much issue with this on Android once it syncs. GETTING it to sync is sometimes an exercise in patience, though, that includes restarting the transcode multiple times, etc.
GPU Support- CUDA…QuikStep…something.
HLS/MPEG-DASH- This is an obvious pre-req for any sort of live TV/PVR support, but has far reaching implications beyond that…especially for remote viewing.
Server Admin Tools- I run a server that is used by people in my immediate household only, and even I want this.
And now one not on the list, but one I, as well as anybody else with multiple children, would LOVE to see: tandem playback. 2 tablets. 1 car ride. only 1 can connect to bluetooth in the car speakers. Have you ever tried to hit play at the same time on 2 tablets and get it close enough the lip sync isn’t awful? Do it with bluetooth, Wi-Di, something…I’m nto picky. But the ability to sync 2 clients playback would be killer. Even if it’s close proximity only at first (BT) that would solve my ask. I’m sure many would like long distance/remote sync as well, but I’d say prove the tech near proximity in the client first, and add it to the server later. I also want to reiterate that this HAS to be done client level to solve the car issue. Server connection required makes this useless for that use-case.

In all honesty I don’t see this one ever happening. They would pretty much have to support Multicast and then allow a client to adjust the offset in microseconds so you wouldn’t experience video/audio lip sync issues.
It would be very cool however to have a client that could send a Multicast out and other clients could receive it. This could be used to have the same show or MUSIC playing throughout your house to different devices. Similar type things have been asked for here in the forums.
So while this would be cool, it didn’t make “my wishlist”

I have a set of Bluetooth Headphones that will “Share” it’s signal with another Bluetooth unit in the vicinity… Something like that (supporting video obviously)?
PlexHome was, in my opinion, an overkill approach to the “parental control” everyone had been asking for.
Can’t this already be done with PlexHome? Limit the library to a specific user and lock with with a pin. Seems very simple to me. What more are you asking for?
For example I can’t setup a new library and tell only those I want to access it that you need the code “6969” to access an adult library.
Currently: You have to “grant” access to this library. Then if the other adult happens to leave their client connected (always do) then their child also has access to this library you really don’t want them to see.
By enforcing a new keycode entry of the password if dormant for 10 minutes or so then you can have a much better chance of keeping the kidding out of places they don’t belong.
I’m not saying this is the way it should be but it surely won’t be a bad idea to have some libraries “locked down” beyond just sharing for obvious reasons.
I’ll set some restrictions on friends I share with just because I know they have kids and want to spare them seeing some content in my libraries rated “unrated” or with no rating at all. I’m not even talking normal porn but just “hard” media
It’s one thing to have access to Basic Instinct and another to get access to Femalien or Diary of a Nymphomaniac. This type of thing is what we could use a library PIN code/password to block and know “it’s blocked”.

And this one limitation is the main reason I have an Adult’s Only library for things like Femalien, Nymphomaniac and Fifty Shade of Grey, among others…

My preference would have been a simple Password Protected Library… instead, we first have to be logged into plex.tv through the internet to validate the user, and then there’s the whole Whitelist/Blacklist tagging problem where I can’t just limit access to a few items, I have to allow access to all the others instead. PlexHome allows one PIN for an administrative user, but a PIN still cannot be assigned to a Library.
As a result, I find that the original “Shared Libraries” where you send an invite, and then restrict the shared content approach is easier and has fewer complexities than the implementation of PlexHome.
[Not that it would apply to me… but I also understand PlexHome is limited to 15 user accounts]
In case some of you are lost on some of these recent posts. A few of us are friends and share servers with each other as friends. So we can see the structure of each others servers and library setups.

It also means that we talk back and forth a bit too, so Carlo already knew my thoughts on his OP in this thread. I didn’t need to reply to make sure he knew where I was coming from. As you can see, though we don’t always see things the same way, hence the additions I made, and the discussions we’re had in other threads…
We don’t see eye-to-eye in all things, which is the way it is whenever you get more than one person in a room, and my priorities might not be the same as his. But I can totally see where he’s coming from, and he can see where I’m coming from.
As for grouping the media into different libraries, it’s not hard, but with your scrolling masses of movies I could see where it might be a pita to do… I’m glad I started this when I did and not when I had 3X the media I have now… A comprehensive filtering system would be a huge help for both of us, I suppose… I have been doing a Kids library, main library and Adult’s only library for a while…
@cayars@MikeG6.5 I just watched the trailer for Femalien, so a low(er) budget episode of the Outer Limits, possibly with more ■■■■? It’s because of movies like that in my collection (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Cafe Flesh), that I recommend some of the families I share with get a second filtered account for their kids.
Most people however can’t be bothered (unless it’s a kid’s tablet), so I use “Virtual” libraries (which really should be a thing), from a trick showed to me by @MovieFan.Plex . I have a Films library that points to \Films which is full of various genre subfolders (Family, Animation, Horror, etc etc), point another library at that subfolder, and turn off the dashboard for that “sub” library (which prevents duplicates for adds and the deck). So while everyone has “Films”, they know that the “Films - Family” is the safest bet for kids (well sorta, growing up in the 80’s and 90’s makes “Family” movies a broad spectrum), it also means I don’t have to go hunting around in various libraries for something when everything is in one place already.

Thank you for this thread.
I think it would be good to add additional scan on new content added features. ie: I have a main plex server and on the same server is my media storage (30tb). that server updates perfectly fine as content is added. But, I also have an NFS map from that server to another server that is running plex. I am assigning users to each plex server in attempt to load balance. it works pretty damn well TBH. The only thing that is not great about it is the update on the second server. It doesnt happen automatically as plex cannot see changes in network shared filesystems. My work around is that I am already running Filebot AMC on server 1. in the post processing script i have a call to update the second plex server. But the call only knows to send a full update to the second server. this takes about 10 minutes to run through all of my media to update the 1 or 2 shows that may have been added…
Overall management is lacking big time in Plex. I dont know if they ever thought users would be demanding multiple plex instances sourcing from the same data…
If you media isn’t getting tagged correctly and it’s movie or TV show it’s a naming issue. Download, install and use FileBot to rename these correctly.
If the files without meta-data are personal media, sports or educational type media then yes it won’t automatically get meta-data.
