Wnable to install a 'Profile Configuration' on the ATV3 - Win7

Unable to install a 'Profile Configuration' on the ATV3

•ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version 6.14(10B809)
•The DNS server set on the ATV has never been established, since it has never been
connected with ethernet cable. I'm still trying to configure and install the profile.
•Local IP address of the Windows PC that PlexConnect is installed on: 192.168.0.103
•PC i5-3570K 8GB Ram, 64-bit Win7 Enterprise ver. 6.1.7601 runing PlexMediaServer ver. 0.9.8.18 Local IP 192.168.0.103
•Github PlexConnect downloaded 1/13/2014 standard setup.

Using the IPhone Configuration utility ver. 3.6.2.300, I get "1 Payload configured" in 'Credentials', but whenever I try to install the 'Configuration Profile' I always get the message: "value cannot be null. Parameter name: cert". I do have a name, identifier, and description of the profile.

Plex Media Server has GDM enabled, but PlexConnect never finds the server. This may be unrelated to being unable to install a 'Profile Configuration' on the ATV3.

Working for hours on getting the ATV3 configured, been reading and rereading how to install for over a week. The settings.cfg file is one continuous line, it doesn't look like it does at pastebin.com. I don't know if this makes any difference. Plus the certfile= path is not like Win 7. Should the settings.cfg be edited with carriage returns, and the certfile path be changed to certfile = C:\PlexConnect\assets\certificates railers.pem in order for the 'Configuration Profile' to install on the ATV3?

I saw one post that said "trailers.apple.comport_ssl = 443" should be changed to "trailers.apple.comport_ssl =443".. no space before the 443. Tried that, also tried instead of "ip_plexconnect = 192.168.0.103" >this>  ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0 AND >this> logpath = .ip_pms = 192.168.178.10 which was the default in settings.cfg.

[PlexConnect]port_pms = 32400port_webserver = 80ip_plexconnect = 192.168.0.103certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pemip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8loglevel = Highenable_dnsserver = Truelogpath = .ip_pms = 192.168.178.10enable_plexgdm = Truehosttointercept = trailers.apple.comport_ssl = 443enable_webserver_ssl = Trueprevent_atv_update = Trueport_dnsserver = 53enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True

Here is my PleXConnect command window:

Using Notepad, that MS utility? Get a "real" editor... :-D

Notepad++ usually does a pretty good job.

>>Plex Media Server has GDM enabled, but PlexConnect never finds the server.

PlexConnect looks for the PMS when triggered. But that will only happen, AFTER the correct certs are in place...

Try using the aTV->Settings->AddProfile over network path.

Thank you Baa. This doesn't work. I unplugged the mini USB from the ATV3 to my PC, and then hooked up an HDMI cable between a monitor and the ATV3. There is no "AddProfil" or any similar name in the ATV3 menu. aTV>Settings> brings up 7 items: General, Screensaver, iTunes Store, Airplay, Computers, and Sleep Now. General has 16 items: About, Name, Network, Parental Controls, Remotes, Bluetooth, Update Software, Time Zone, Sleep After, Dend Data to Apple, Language, Accessibility, Troubleshooting, Legal, Reset, and Restart.

When the mini USB was connected, nothing recognized the ATV3 except the iPhone Configuration Utility. Windows 7 did not see the ATV at all, even from 'Disk Management'.

Windows "Network" shows both my computer: GIGA-MOD, and under Media Devices: Plex Media Server: giga-mod. I'm puzzled that the properties of Plex Media Server: giga-mod show that the IP is 192.168.56.1, but plexConnect shows my WebServer to have the IP 192.168.0.103, which is exactly reported when I run in a command prompt: "ipconfig /all".

PlexMediaServer is running and mapped to port 17049, which my firewall is set to allow. The cert files have been generated correctly, since running certmgr.msc shows apples.trailers.com in Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Also, the cert files (trailers.cer and trailers.pem) are both in the correct folder: C:\PlexConnect\assets\certificates

So, I still cannot get the iPhone Configuration Utility to ,HOOLY COW.... been toying with cables and menus, and messing with iPhone Configuration Utility while posting this message. I just now unplugged the HDMI to make room for mini USB on the ATV3) and with the ethernet cable still plugged in, I just tried installing my "Profile Configuration" once more. It worked at installing the 'Profile Configuration', but even after shutting down PlexConnect (by using Ctlr-C in the command window) and PlexMediaServer, then restarting PMS and then PlexConnect (by running plexconnect.py) things still are not working yet. I still don't get a line in Plexconnect that says: PlexGDM: servers discovered: 1. PlexConnect does have the following two entries: 14:44:55 WebServer: WebServer: Serving HTTP on port 80., AND 14:44:55 WebServer: WebServer: Serving HTTPS: on port 443, but then immediately after, this line: 14:44:55 WebServer: *** followed  on the next line with a blinking cursor.

Opening another command prompt and running the command "netstat -ao"  gives me, (among the many entries) two entries listing my pc (giga-mod)  listening (TCP) on port 443 and port 80. No other entry is listening to either of these ports, and the PIDs are unique as well.

I'll start another separate post with the above information, as my original problem of "Unable to install a 'Profile Configuration' on the ATV3" is solved. So Baa, in a roundabout way, you solved my problem, because I had not hooked up the ATV3 to the network via ethernet. Thanks! By the way, I've read many, many of your helpful posts on this forum. You must have many grateful people here.
