And here’s the thing. I guess a preference for genres and actors comes into play.
Captain Marvel for me is one of the better Marvel movies.
Shakespeare in love I found to be OK-ish.
But back on topic and here’s an anecdote. Here in the UK back in the day when you could buy a Region free DVD player and import films from the state side I remember importing The Matrix and the region free player to play it on. Despite my age I remember it hit DVD in the US before it hit the cinemas here and all my friends thought I was so cool on movie nights. Damn that was an expensive day.
Worst over-hyped film I have ever seen?
No. Because by definition I would have had to have seen it all and not just keep trying for 20 years to get further than 20 minutes.
Coming close behind, and after I actually found John Wick 1 & 2 quite entertaining (but yet again proving that Keanu Reeves makes Nicholas Cage seem like a modern day Laurence Olivier) then John Wick 3 follows close behind as being completely unwatchable.
I will add that I haven’t watched WandaVision but did actually see a trailer tonight on the TV whilst at work. I’m guessing it’s due to launch over here in the UK on one of free to the air channels.
It’s pretty unique as by default the trailers tend to hook you and the reality is totally different. In the case of that show the trailer looked like a 1/10 show.
But we all have different tastes as I mentioned. @FordGuy61 mentions Silver Linings Playbook. I haven’t seen it as its again not my type on film. But it seems to score a fairly healthy 7.7 on imdb. I guess some people enjoyed it.
So, here’s the thing: If you walk out after 10 minutes, have you “seen” it?
Worst movie I actually sat through was probably Time Bandits.
I can think of two movies that I’ve walked out on: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Boogie Nights.
I really like the story of “2001: A Space Odyssey (the audiobook is excellent).” They just put about 20 minutes of somebody’s acid trip in it. Cut that junk out and it would be a good movie.
Awww, I kind’ve like Time Bandits in a campy way! Kind’ve like Xena or Hercules. They’re so bad, they’re mildly entertaining.
I’ve never walked out of a movie early… I wish I had walked out of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but that would have upset the kids I has forced to take to see it!
Worst movie ever seen? Toss up between three.
Mama Dracula - I knew better, but I like Louise Fletcher.
The Gingerdead Man - Puts modern SyFy and Made for Netflix movies to shame in terms of awful
The Garbage Pail Kids Movie - Need I say more?
I have never left theater as most choices were based on friends who filter those movies.
Biggest problem I feel is you’re expecting movie to blow you away but it turns out to be utter disappointment. Will be highly UO but Rosemary’s Baby is on my top of worst movie I have ever watched.
The awful makeup and animatronics. The overwhelming reliance on gross-out humor. The nonsense plot that was too complicated for kids and too boring for adults. I can’t even explain how bad every single second of this movie was.
Another one is Independence Day 2, I think they filmed every action movie cliche known to man, then loosely stitched it together to make something resembling a movie.
