Just got my desktop back so I am finally able to use the plex app on the xbox one. Is there a way to get to the "channels" section?

It's not an omission, the app is still in development. They have stated in a few places, mainly the blog, that they wanted everything up and running good for video libraries and that Pictures, Music, and Channels will be added at a later date.
Basically it was they could release it now with video, or make everyone wait until the rest was done. Personally, I'm glad it was released. :)
