Xbox transcoding 1080i video and many, many other formats

Hello,

I’m trying to force DVR from my DVB-S2 tuner work without transcoding.
It’s really annoying that Plex tries to transcode h264 → h264… And it turns out that the channels have 1080i and for whatever reason Plex tries to transcode it into 1080p.

Why the hell Xbox Plex Player doesn’t support another format? There are so many limitations which makes this Player so useless :frowning: Kodi works perfectly, because he natively supports MPEG2/TS, 1080i, H264/265 without any transcoding. Additionally Kodi is able to handle all audio formats (by transcoding on the client side), so the playback is perfectly smooth and without any buffering.

Is there any plans to introduce transcoding on the Plex client side? In most cases the server is less powerful than the clients, so transcoding on the server CPU is not always the best solution and adds annoying buffering every few minutes.
